Proudly Serving the state of West Virginia
The F. Ray Power Building was conveyed to West Virginia State University in June of 2013 by the West Virginia Department of Administration as part of a 19 ¾ acre parcel. Most of the buildings located on the site were demolished, but the F. Ray Power Building was spared, and plans were underway to renovate it as the new home of the Agricultural and Environmental Research Station for the University.
Basement Systems of West Virginia was contacted in August of 2017 after the project architect and engineer assigned to the renovation project of F Ray Power Building were made aware of soil gases under the building. In a proactive attempt to remedy the problem, Basement Systems of West Virginia performed a free, no obligation inspection and estimate addressing the need for soil depressurization and reduction of humidity levels in the area under the building.
Basement Systems of West Virginia designed a system that depressurizes the soil below the CleanSpace barrier and vented air from under the liner to the exterior of the building. This was achieved through the specialized installation of CleanSpace Drainage Matting, CleanSpace Liner, Sedona Dehumidifiers, and Exhaust Fan Systems.
With the design from our System Design Specialist, great products, and hard work from our production team, we were able to depressurize the soil gases below the F. Ray Power Building, and control humidity levels. The building is now ready for further planned renovations so that it can be used for future educational endeavors.
