Basement Systems of West Virginia Case Studies: Waterproofing A Basement for Free in Clarksburg, West Virginia

Challenge

Tina and Keith Wilkinson of Clarksburg are like many West Virginia parents who have seen their incomes decline the past few years because of a struggling economy.

Both parents have lost jobs due to the economy, but have found other jobs that just don't pay as much as their previous jobs. Working hard to make ends meet like other parents in the Mountain State, these parents press on in order to provide for themselves and their son, Isaiah.

Faced with water in their basement, Tina and Keith wrote Basement Systems of West Virginia last winter, asking to be considered for the "free project" contest sponsored by the company.  This week, their dreams have come true, as a Basement Systems of West Virginia crew showed up to waterproof their basement -- at no cost to them.

Solution

The hard working crews installed the WaterGuard system along the inside perimeter of the foundation and hooked up the system to a TripleSafe sump pump. Together, the WaterGuard and TripleSafe will work together to permanently push the water out of the home.

The WaterGuard system is an effective and reliable way to solve water problems in a basement. It is a piping system that is installed along the inside perimeter of the foundation. WaterGuard is engineered specifically to not clog from soils under the floor. IT has large holes in the back to accept water and a flange with special segments. WaterGuard is a non-clogging alternative to other piping systems that sit in soil and very often clog.

After the WaterGuard system was installed, the crews hooked up the WaterGuard with the TripleSafe sump pump. The TripleSafe sump pump has three pumps to give complete protection. In the event that the first pump fails, the second one takes over. If your first pump can’t keep up, then the secondary pump runs at the same time- more than doubling capacity. Also, if your power goes out, an UltraSump Battery Backup pump takes over.

The homeowner are beyond thrilled with the results. "The first thing I would think about when it rained hard was how much water would be coming into our basement," Mr. Wilkinson said.  "After this week, we won't have to worry anymore.
